Panamerican Dispatch is a new independent journalism project created in September 2026 to produce and distribute news and analysis from Latin America, within the United States.
U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed attention on Latin America as not seen in decades.
Under his “Donroe Doctrine”, Trump has attacked boats in the Caribbean, invaded Venezuela and tightened the screws of the blockade on Cuba. He has helped right-wing allies win big victories across the region.
There are major concerns for the future of democracy across Latin America and the legitimacy of upcoming elections in the region.
That is why Panamerican Dispatch is needed today.

Michael Fox
The initiative is being led by Brazil-based journalist Michael Fox. He has reported extensively across the region for PRX’s The World, DW, The Nation, Business Insider, The Intercept, AJ+, TRT World, The Real News, and numerous other outlets. He is a former editor of NACLA’s Report on the Americas. More recently, he is the producer and host of numerous podcasts, including Brazil on Fire and Under the Shadow.
Brian Mier
Brian Mier has lived in Brazil for over 30 years and holds master’s degrees from Loyola University Chicago and the University of London. He is a former editor of Brasilwire who has edited two books, published peer-reviewed research, and written for outlets including Outras Palavras, Carta Capital, FAIR, Monthly Review, Truthdig, Morning Star, and Counterpunch. He co-hosts a weekly Portuguese-language web TV program Globalistas on Brasil 247 and has provided commentary for Sky News, France 24, The Majority Report, TRT, GloboNews, BBC News, and Al Jazeera. He is a production team veteran of documentaries for BBC One, Two, and Three, Netflix, HBO, Al Jazeera, ProSieben, and SVT. He has worked as a correspondent and TV news producer for teleSUR English’s From the South since 2018.
